Dyana Doherty, Franchise of the Year - Savage, Minnesota
2014 was another record breaking, monumental year for Mainstream Boutique! As we grow, we are changing even more lives through fashion every day! We are making a difference in the lives of our Franchise Owners and their employees, customers and cities all over the country! Our foundation of Love, FUN, and Fashion is working because it is AUTHENTIC! Each of our owners is selected carefully, and we look for people who want to make a real impact in their communities. There is not a more deserving recipient of Franchise of the Year than Dyana. Dyana has won over her community, and is a role model to all. She is a bright and shining star, is a member of our Franchise Advisory Council, and always takes the time to help and mentor others as they go through their personal journey building their store.
We asked Dyana some questions to better understand what inspires her and has led to her success:
Q: What has been your inspiration?
A: I’ve always been inspired by fashion & style. One of my favorite quotes by Rachel Zoe is, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” I think this is so true in so many ways. Fashion allows us to make a statement, or express ourselves in such a fun way! Furthermore, fashion has the power to make women feel amazing. My greatest inspiration is watching our customers feel empowered and beautiful in an outfit they LOVE! I truly believe my calling is to help make women feel confident and amazing. Clothing and fashion is what we use to bring out these wonderful emotions.
Q: To what do you attribute to your success?
A: I’ve been incredibly blessed to have a full-time employee for the last two years. I choose to invest a lot of training, time, and effort into my full-time employee along with our part-time employees. This way, I know the same standards are being upheld at all times. I try to create a consistent experience that our customers can depend on when they come in. Either myself, or my full-time employee are here most of the time. As a team, we’ve spent a great deal of time in developing sincere relationships with our customers. I consider many of my customers friends! We try to remember details about our last conversations, and we take an interest in their lives. We appreciate every person that walks through our door! Without our customers, we wouldn’t be here!
Q: What advice would you give to other franchises?
A: Here are some things that I’ve learned during my time as a business owner:
- Don’t get discouraged if you’re having an “off” day. Try to channel it as motivation to do better next time.
- Even though we get very busy at times, take the time to sit down & evaluate your business. There is always room for improvement.
- Make clear goals, and what you’re specifically going to do to get there.
- It’s very easy to get overwhelmed because there are SO many things on our plate at all times. Take it one step at a time & try not to get discouraged by thinking about EVERYTHING all at once!
- Try to be very honest with yourself. Don’t make excuses, use good introspect and change what needs to be changed.
Mainstream Boutique is all about Love, Fun and Fashion! We thought it might be fun for you to see us putting together a collection for you. We shop markets from Los Angeles to New York, and everywhere in between, and travel every single month. We work with many designers who create new items ongoing, which enables us to bring you something new and fresh every single week. Because of our immense growth, we have BUYING power! This allows us to bring you the best collection, and have items that can fit into anyone's budget.
Last week there were 30 of us working on the collection.
We collaborate, share ideas, and have a blast in the process!
One reason why we are so successful is that our buying team, just like our customer base, is a multi generational group of talented, intelligent and fashion savvy women!

We love how our franchisees help and mentor one another. There is not another franchise system like us in the universe, and for that we are thankful!

The experience when you shop in our stores is one that our customers love. They know when they walk into one of our stores, they will be welcomed with excitement and passion. All of us at Mainstream LOVE what we do and love coming to work each day. The customer can feel this as our stylists help them look and feel BEAUTIFUL! Everyone deserves that special attention. I always say to the staff - It is ALL in the DETAILS!

Robin is one of the most beautiful and kind ladies you will ever meet. She is passionate about women and fashion. She travels between Minnesota and Illinois overseeing her two successful boutiques. Robin was a part of this month's photo shoot, and her beauty shows in the pictures!
Meet Lisa DeBack - Head of Franchise Onboarding
Lisa moved here three years ago from upstate New York to join our corporate team. Lisa started when we had 22 stores, and has been a part of our monumental growth to over fifty stores in sixteen states. Lisa walks every new franchisee through the amazing journey from creative design of their stores through grand opening. "It's exciting to go through the process wth a new store, from the first phone call to their store opening and beyond. I love what I do because I am able to help set up these store owners for success. In the process of training them, we become friends, and they look at me as someone they tust and can come to for help in any area."
Lisa describes her personal style as simple, on trend, and streamlined.
We have GREAT energy as a company, and are authentic in everything we do! My passion for fashion started as a young girl, and I knew I wanted to be a buyer in fashion from my first marketing class in college. I find it amazing that I get to do this every day!
